Today’s lineups … two of ‘em … including Felix

Two games today for the Mariners with split-squad action for the first time this spring. And we’ve got Felix Hernandez pitching today against the Royals in Surprise. Both games are at 1:05 p.m. MT (12:05 p.m. PT).

Here are the lineups:

Vs. Royals at Surprise

Kyle Seager 3B
Casper Wells LF
Justin Smoak 1B
Michael Morse DH
Carlos Peguero RF
Kelly Shoppach C
Julio Morban CF
Carlos Triunfel SS
Stefen Romero 2B

Felix Hernandez P

Vs. A’s in Phoenix

Robert Andino 2B
Eric Thames LF
Jason Bay RF
Kendrys Morales DH
Mike Jacobs 1B
Mike Zunino C
Brad Miller SS
Vinnie Catricala 3B
Francisco Martinez CF

Brandon Maurer P

Felix is scheduled to throw two innings against the Royals, followed by Hisashi Iwakuma with three. The Mariners are going with their “A” bullpen in that game as well, with Tom Wilhelmsen, Lucas Luetge, Carter Capps and Stephen Pryor all scheduled to throw.

Slight change in the pitching approach against the A’s. Sounds like Maurer, James Paxton and Jeremy Bonderman will each go three innings in that one as the potential starters begin to get stretched out.

Neither game will be on live radio, though you can catch the Royals game with Felix on Mariners.com if you register. Normally that service requires a signup fee, but weekday games this spring that are being delayed by 710 ESPN Seattle are free on Mariners.com.

The Felix game will be available in the Seattle area on a delayed basis at 7 p.m. on 710 ESPN.

Coming up, the Mariners host the A’s in Peoria on Friday and Hector Noesi will start that game and go two innings.

Then it’s off to Glendale on Saturday to face the Dodgers, with Jon Garland expected to start and pitch the first three. Joe Saunders will follow and likely get another three in that one.

(Update 8:20 a.m. PT): Danny Hultzen says his hip is progressing nicely after being scratched from Monday’s start against the Rockies. The young lefty will play catch and do some fielding drills this morning and expects to throw a bullpen session in the next day or two before a decision is made on when he’ll return to game action.

The “A” pitching may be with felix, but they did devide the rest of the lineup pretty equally…Then again, with the way the M’s are hitting up & down the lineup it woupd be hard not to….
